Luke 24:45 Then He ( Jesus ) opened their minds to understanding the Scriptures.
Jesus tells us to ask. So many times people tell me "I don't read the Bible because I don't understand it". If we asked we would understand more and more. But to ask for something we have to want what we are asking for. For many (myself included at one point in life) not understanding is a good reason for not wanting.
-Not wanting to dedicate the time.
-Not wanting know because then I would have had to act on it.
-Not wanting feel guilty for not reading.
-Not wanting to dedicate myself to something else or something "boring".
Perhaps we should all begin with praying (asking) for a desire and hunger for what God wants us to know. Then we can begin to pray for understanding - once we have the desire to understand (& implement).
John 6:63 - "...the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life" - Jesus.
James 1:5 - If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
If you want Life. Not just to live but to be filled with life - the life only Jesus can offer - ask him.
