1 Corinthians 15:57-58: But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
Almost every day I do something that makes me think "this is useless". Some of it is work related, some is around the house and other things just need to be done. Every time I mow the yard I think "this is useless, in 100 years no one will care if I kept the yard mowed and I will not spend eternity wishing I had mowed more often". But it is still a must. I do other things that I think "why am I doing this? No one else will know or care. But still my conscience drives me because I will know it didn't get done.
We must remember in a world of "useless" work that nothing we do for the Lord is useless. He notes every kind word, he knows every helping hand we lend, he listens intently to the prayers we pray for others, he knows what we do for him that no one knows or cares about. It may seem small and insignificant to us but details matter to our Father. Just as mowing seems like the most useless thing in the world to me, by keeping the yard mowed it keeps snakes and such away from the house and allows my family to safely be outside and even enjoy the creation of God that surrounds us.
Colossians 3:17: And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
