It's All About Jesus

1Corinthians 7:24 - Each of you, dear brothers and sisters, should remain as you were when God first called you.

Why are you the way you are? Why are you who you are? Why are you where you are? The above passage helps us understand the answer to these questions. The passages leading up to this say if you are a slave, remain a slave but you are free in Christ and if you are free, remain free but you are a slave to Christ.

When we are to "remain where we are" it is a place of purpose. In the place we are put we can use those experiences to reach others for Christ. We can use things and processes we understand to explain the Gospel to those in our sphere of influence and to help illustrate and illuminate passages of scripture. By being where you are - you are where you know and understand things that the people you interact with will understand. It would be difficult for a city person to explain "city things" to a country boy and relate it to Bible stories and passages with any relevance and meaning. The same would be true if the situation was reversed. We are put here to reach those in the "same place" as us. There are those who have overcome drug addiction that will help bring freedom and faith to other addicts that I could never relate to because I have not lived in that world.

Use what you are given, be the Light of Good News where you are and remember you are there for purpose. It's not about you, it is about Jesus and His love for everyone who will accept it. He will help you. Just ask.
