Jude (only one chapter) verses 22-23:
And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgement. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.
As we watch violence spread like the common cold across the world we must remember who we are, or to be exact - who we are called to imitate - Jesus.
He has shown us unbelievable MERCY. By stepping out of Heaven, putting on human form and dying on a cross for our failures and disobedience - Jesus has extended more mercy than we can fathom and certainly do not deserve.
If we are truly his followers we must find it in ourselves and in our faith to do the same. The above 2 verses mention it twice - we need to take notes of that...We need to be the calm in the storm, not the pressure fueling it. We must be able to help others but not fall into whatever is binding them. Let's commit to snatching from the fire and not pouring gas on it. We must be able to see a person as "God's creation" and be willing to help them, share the love and mercy that someone introduced us to - the love of Jesus Christ!
Pastor Jack Hibbs quoted "Where there is weakness there is violence. Where there is strength there is calm."
Be strong in the Lord! Be the calm in someone's storm. Show mercy. Be an imitator of the one who showed Mercy to you.
Pastor T. M.
