New Year / New Beginnings

Psalm 139: 23-24:

Search me, oh God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

As we look to a new year most all of us have "evaluated" many things that are happening in our world and possibly maybe even made our own predictions of what could & should  happen. There is no doubt that there is plenty going on around us that merits our attention but what about at "home", in own backyard so to speak. Have we made time to check ourselves, our motives, our lifestyle and even the posture of our own heart? This passage above tells us we should. Many times I get so absorbed in what I am thinking I don't think to ask God about what is going on within my heart. I think I know what is right or what should happen but in the grand  (& eternal) plan I am just a wisp of a life. God knows all things, sees all things and works towards His eternal plans. My job is to make sure I line up with him during my time here.

Psalm139:1 reads - O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

God already knows all there is to know about you. About me. In this coming new year and season let's have the grit to ask him what his findings in our hearts are. Then let's muster the strength and commit to making any needed changes and follow him up the path of everlasting life. He alone knows the way!

Psalm 139:7: I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!

Jesus is with us - always. For those in him - Jesus is for you - always.

Casting off anything that offends him will only draw us closer to him and the blessings of a "Spiritual Cardiologist appointment" will yield great results when the recommendations are diligently followed.
