Isaiah 11:2-3 - the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord. He will delight in obeying the Lord.
When trying to share the Gospel with someone I have heard it all. You have probably heard it. It is a common "belief" on Earth among mankind - "I like not having to answer to anyone".
The problem with this is that by "not answering to anyone" a person is answering to someone - the serpent, the devil, the great deceiver. He has deceived that person into thinking:
1. You can be your own god.
2. God is cruel or evil or harsh.
Both are complete lies.
The truth is that at some point we will all answer for ourselves. Those who "delight in obeying the Lord" who have put their faith in Jesus will be rewarded for their faith and stand before Jesus to be welcomed into an eternal home with him. Those who "liked not answering to anyone" who denied Jesus will have to stand judgement from God and be sentenced to an eternity of speration from him and all that he has prepared for those who love him. This eternity is called Hell and it is real and it will be horrible beyond imagination.
To not delight in obeying the Lord is to not know him. To not know him is exactly what the enemy of our souls desires most. Like it or not - we are answering to one or the other
- The Lord or the devil. We ARE choosing Heaven or Hell - either way we will be with
one we answered to - Jesus or the devil.
Choose the One who created you. The One who died for your forgiveness. The One who loved you first. Choose the One that wants to be with you forever and ever in a Paradise beyond our comprehension. Do not follow the one that is trying to actually destroy you with lies and deceiption and bring you down with himself.
1John 5:3 - Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.
Psalm 32:3 - When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.
32:5- Finally, I confessed my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the Lord." And you forgave me! My guilt is gone.
32:6- Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement.
